Tottenham have the capability to finish in the top four this season according to the former goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The former American International played for a couple of years at White Hart Lane after only recently retiring from football. He has vast experience in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino took some time to get going after taking over from Tim Sherwood. Now, he appears to have perfected the squad and this has been showing in the results. Spurs have not been extraordinarily brilliant but they have done sufficiently well enough to keep themselves in touching distance of teams like Arsenal and Manchester United.
In previous seasons, the club has been in a race for the top four only to fail in the last few months of the season. The experiences gained in such disappointing fashion is likely to help them in this current campaign according to Friedel. He has hinted that the club could make a couple of signings in January to keep the squad on the toes. The recent 1-1 draw with arch rivals Arsenal meant that Tottenham are now unbeaten in the last 11 league outings. This record will certainly be challenged in the coming weeks since the likes of West Ham and Chelsea will be the opponents.
“I tip Tottenham to get into the top four this season, and that’s not because of my allegiance to them, I really believe in what Mauricio Pochettino is doing there.Mauricio Pochettino has done as wonderful job with instilling his philosophy and style of play with this Tottenham team. It’s high energy and they’ve got a very fit group of players, and the players Pochettino has kept have bought into his system. They believe in it.It’s not an easy system to play in, I can tell you from personal experience that it’s not easy training every day,” said Friedel.
